The XPeng P5 is a battery-powered compact executive sedan produced by the Chinese electric car company XPeng. It is the first mass-produced car to be equipped with lidar sensors for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
Presented at Auto Shanghai in April 2021, the P5 complements the brand's lineup as a sophisticated yet accessible alternative to the flagship P7. The design features a gently sloping roofline and LED technology headlights connected by a signature light strip.
The interior boasts a minimalist design centered around a 15.6-inch vertical multimedia touch screen equipped with Xmart OS 3.0. A unique highlight is the sleeping/cinema mode, where front seats can lie flat to accommodate an air bed, transforming the cabin into a private lounge.
Technologically, the P5 leads with its autonomous driving hardware, including 32 sensors: two LiDARs, 12 ultrasonic sensors, 5 microwave sensors, and 13 high-resolution cameras, providing the capability for L4 autonomous driving through future updates.
